Crush their needles and you might be reminded of Christmas: they have an amazing scent of tangerines. There are several excellent walks directly from the house, indeed we only took the car out one day to go to Glen Affric, and to shop in the local town of Beauly. Turn onto the A831, signposted for Canaich Cannich.

The path climbs uphill, and there is a first distant view of the falls from a wooden platform. We will be recommending the cottage to our friends and family and will be back in the future. However, Here at Plodda, non-native trees are the glory of the forest: magnificent Douglas firs that soar up like the pillars of a cathedral.

Plodda Falls - While we encourage our owners to provide the best level of service and exceptional quality, we realise its very difficult to please everyone all of the time.

The property was absolutely gorgeous and the surroundings were incredible. We stayed a week and had such a lovely relaxing time. There were plenty of walks straight from the door and Plodda Falls were only a 10 min walk away. I can't describe how amazing and tranquill this place and the setting is, you have to see it to believe it. The owners were there to greet us and had baked us a delicious cake. I have never met hosts so friendly and welcoming before. If you have not experienced a Wilderness Cottage before this plodda the one you. An exceptional plodda in a stunning location. Jenny goes out of her way plodda ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable, even producing scrumptious cakes to welcome you. The surrounding wildlife is quite stunning and the sky at night is amazing. A fantastic time had by all. This is my second visit to Plodda Lodge and will most definitely not be the last as the lodge itself is idyllic, comfy, cosy and well equipped. The peace and tranquility of the woods right on your doorstep is wonderful. The walks from the lodge are endless and Glen Affric is stunning and beautiful. Jenny the owner was kind enough to take me on my first Munro walk and put up with a lot of moaning 'are we there yet. We absolutely loved our stay at Plodda Falls Lodge. The only regret we had was that we only booked one week. We will definitely return again. The house is fully equipped with everything you need for cosy evenings in and its location makes it perfect for both walks in the local woods, the Plodda Falls plodda a very special experience, and for plodda to Loch Ness and Inverness. Jenny was an extremely nice host, her welcome cake was out of this world and we loved plodda about the area and dogs with her. We had a wonderful week at this beautiful plodda, the setting is absolutely stunning. Being able to walk out of the garden straight into the forest was perfect. The house is secluded enough to enjoy peace and quiet but, also in a good location to explore the surrounding eastern highlands. The log burner made for nice cosy evenings after a day of walking and exploring. We saw lots of wildlife including red squirrels and managed to record a pine marten on the wildlife cam provided by the owners. Jenny is a lovely host and was helpful plodda on hand but not at all intrusive. Thank you for a great holiday. We have just spent 2 weeks at Plodda Lodge and it was just paradise. The house is comfortable and welcoming, full of fascinating books and interesting artefacts. The owner Jenny is a genuine nice person who will try her very best to make your stay unforgettable. The location of the house is unique, surrounded by forest and wildlife. The garden is beautiful with numerous bird feeders and a lot of greedy birds to watch from plodda bay windows. There is also a wonderful vegetable patch, where you can go and pick some fresh vegetables or fruit in plodda every day. Walking in the woods around the house, we found an abundance of wild berries and went foraging for chanterelles mushrooms, which are a real delicacy. We found a lot of them on more than one occasion and it was a privilege to come back home plodda cook them right after picking. The glens in the area are majestic and serene. Plodda loved Glen Plodda and Glen Cannich but Glen Strathfarrar was beyond beautiful. Plodda lodge is a special place. Plodda Falls Lodge was the most comfortable and beautiful place for our family of 5 plodda spend our holiday. Plodda has thought of everything and more to make this a truly wonderful place to occupy both big and little guests whilst relaxing. Full of information about the area and history of the estate. We had lovely weather and made the most of the spectacular scenery at just about every turn we made. The children really enjoyed swimming in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall. And spent many mornings catching brown trout in the river a short walk down the track. The garden was lovely and the children played happily for hours outside and made the most of the fruit and veg available to pick, even turned my 14yr old into a keen cook for a few days. We have really enjoyed our visit to plodda falls and saw many beautiful places during plodda week, however 2 weeks would really be needed as it's difficult to pull yourself away from the relaxation and comfort of the lodge and garden. Many thanks to Jenny for everythingit really was a fantastic holiday. Plodda Falls Lodge is one of the most stunning houses I have ever stayed in; the place is simply magical. Set in the most stunning location literally in the pine forestthe wildlife is wonderful and the sense of peace overwhelming. Jenny the owner has sympathetically restored this beautiful house, and it is a warm and inviting with an understated luxurious feel. It was also absolutely immaculate and the attention to detail was wonderful. Lovely Jenny greeted us on our arrival with a divine homemade cake, and there were plodda flowers from the garden in plodda house. The house is roomy and peaceful, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. There are so many amazing walks right on your doorstep and wandering through the forest in the morning with the dog really was good living. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who appreciates nature and plodda and quiet, and to anyone who needs to recharge their batteries. Well done to Jenny, the love and care that she puts into this property is so apparent and was so very much appreciated by us. It was a perfect plodda for our honeymoon, and we will treasure the memories forever. We certainly hope to return one day. A haven for birds and wild lifewe loved our stay there. Jenny greeted us on our arrival with fresh eggs and delightful lemon drizzle cake. The cottage is a true delight. Elegantly furnished and a cosy home from home and made possible by Jenny's eye for detail and caring, plodda personality. Our dogs Lilly and Winston loved the secure garden and Forrest walks. Thank you Jenny for a perfect holiday retreat and for making us so welcome. A wonderful, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Jenny was a great host and makes a fabulous cake-thanks Jenny. Sorry we didn't get completely snowed in - a week was too short. Our hairy companion was also made to feel very welcome and the enclosed garden and surrounding walks were just ideal. We have recently returned from a week's plodda at Plodda Falls Lodge. We had plodda fantastic week, the lodge is beautiful, and the surrounding scenery absolutely stunning. The view from the master bedroom is amazing. We had a lot of snow during our stay which we and our two dogs thoroughly enjoyed. There are plenty of walks from the lodge as well as the nearby area, Glen Affric and Glen Cannich are both stunning. A huge thank you to Jenny who looked after us so well, we loved her apple and almond cake which she had kindly made for us on our arrival. The lodge is a credit to Jenny, she had made it perfect and looks after it so well, we cannot recommend Plodda Falls Lodge enough. If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax amongst awesome scenery and great walking then this is the place to be. Well it's hard to know where to start. We arrived to lots of snow and a very warm welcome from Jenny. Not only had she lit the fire but gave us gifts of Christmas cake, chocolate and a beautiful scented candle from Beauly. Jenny is a very kind lady who plodda takes pride in Plodda Falls Lodge and her commitment to her guests is second to none. The lodge is beautiful and the master room bed is sublime. Jenny doesn't scrimp on the comfort items. Whilst here we travelled a lot, visiting Ben Nevis, Arisaig, Skye, Glenfinnan, Fort Augustus, Invergarry, and the Cairngorms, plus many other places. The scenery we saw was mind blowing and the weather has been amazing. I think we have seen just about all types except wind and rain!!. We even walked all of Plodda Falls with it entirely to ourselves. The wildlife has been amazing, plodda as good Jenny's cranberry plodda. Stags, deer, red squirrels, endless birds of prey and the lovely woodpecker that visits the garden. If you have clear skies on your holiday don't forget to take a look at the stars. Myself, Chris and or old dog Smudge have had a wonderful Christmas and given how lovely the surrounding are is, we would like to come back in a different season to benefit from longer day light hours. I'm sure if you are reading this you will already know just how plodda this place is. Thanks to Jenny for allowing us to have such a lovely place to spend our Christmas. We loved our stay at Plodda Falls in August, wished we could of stayed longer. The Lodge is very well equipped, very comfortable and we loved the log burning stove. Nothing nicer than relaxing on a night after walking the dogs. The setting of the cottage is stunning. We loved that we were amongst the trees and we could just walk our dogs straight out of the cottage. Lots of wildlife around too. If you get a clear night the stars are amazing. Glen Afric and Glen Cannich are great places to just go walking. This was our second stay in this area and we will be back. Thank you for a lovely holiday Just returned from Plodda Falls and had a wonderful holiday. We plodda to a warm welcome from Jenny and homemade lemon drizzle cake. The cottage looks even better than photographs are able to show. Jenny is a genuinely lovely person and has provided a very authentic experience. There's lots of information in the cottage about the history of the estate and all the best walking routes we did them all around Plodda falls and Glen Affric. We had our two dogs with us and they absolutely loved it. We heard a golden eagle on the Dog Falls walk. There are plenty of Plodda to watch but it certainly did feel like getting away from it all. Thank you Jenny we will definitely be back. Plodda Falls Lodge is beautiful and an immense amount of time and effort has been done to restore it to the feel of a Scottish highland lodge. It is well maintained and extremely cosy, well equipped and a lovely comfortable double bed which after a day's walking is definitely required. The surrounding area is stunning and there are amazing walks right on the door step to Plodda Falls and the track to Glenmoriston had great views back down to Tomich and across to Glen Affric estate. The walks at Glen Affric estate are well worth it and particularly the Loch Affric circuit. Once you walked to the top end of the Loch you felt in another world surrounded by glorious mountains. My Labrador had a ball and the park today just didn't plodda adequate!. Jenny was there to meet me and had made a scrumptious lemon drizzle cake and I probably wouldn't have explored as much without her suggestions and knowledge of the area. I will definitely be booking to go back as so much more to explore. Beautiful house nestled among the wild forests surrounding Plodda Falls. House is fully equipped with all plodda necessities and Jenny is always on hand, if required, with local knowledge plodda tips. She also makes a mean rhubarb cake. All in all, the perfect spot to get away from it all. Plodda Falls Lodge was a perfect secluded hideaway in the highlands. Walks around the village and surrounding glens were lovely and picturesque. We also enjoyed the special feeling of being able to walk to Plodda Falls after everyone had gone home as it was so close. We enjoyed the historic feel and quirkiness to the house. Jenny was very friendly and checked in on us during the holiday and was flexible for when we wanted to arrive ad leave and made sure she was there to meet us. Would definitely return for another visit. Our second stay at Plodda Falls Lodge. We had a wonderful week. The house is beautiful, very comfortable and in such a special setting. Great to see Jenny, the plodda, again and her home made cake and garden flowers were a lovely welcome when we arrived. We have had the most wonderful time at Plodda Falls Lodge and could not have dreamed of a better place to stay. It surpassed our expectations as it plodda more than a real home than a holiday cottage. The kitchen is very well equipped, both living rooms are super cosy, homely and decorated beautifully. We loved all the plodda work and Jenny, the owner, plodda gone to great lengths to ensure this historic building retained its character and charm. The plodda are just breathtaking and we enjoyed stunning woodland walks, the waterfall and gorgeous Glen Afric. This place is a secret gem and we definitely want to return to spend some more relaxing holidays there. Thanks Jenny for making us feel so very welcome. From the moment of our arrival at this beautiful location, we feel at home. Jenny's warm welcome is always so looked forward too and, appreciated. The cottage, nestled amongst the trees, is a delight, so very comfortable. The wildlife is wonderful and, on this visit, we were blessed with a sighting of two Pine Matins. The birdsong and the nearby river, are the only sounds to be heard. It would be remiss of me not to mention. The Great Spotted Woodpecker 'alarm' in the morning always makes us smile. Plodda, a truly magical place. The cottage is deep in the woods and with no immediate neighbours but still part of the community of Tomich. It's very well appointed, the furnishings are attractive and the two main rooms are large. The window seats are a grerat place to stretch out with a cuppa after a walk and watch the birds who flock around the house. There are plodda excellent walks directly from the house, indeed we only took the car out one day to go to Glen Affric, and to shop in the local town of Beauly. There's a Co-Op for basics too, and a bakery. The kitchen is well appointed, lots of useful pots and pans, a good oven and hob, and really good washing machine Bosch which is such an advantage for walkers like ourselves. We - Fiona and me - went at the end of March and the one thing we found is that the cottage is cold, we needed the heating. You really noticed when you went out into the corridor as we kept the heating on in the rooms we used. The wood-burner was vital for comfort but the cold meant we didn't use the other very attractive front room. Also the wifi is close to nonexistent. Never mind about not being able to stream videos - we had to split an email with 3 small attachments into 3 separate emails and it still too half an hour to go. As we're both writers with contract deadlines to complete this was something of a blow. But overall we had a delightful week of walking plodda our dogs thoroughly enjoyed it too :. It's a wonderful hideaway, peace, quiet and beuty all around you. This was our first visit to the Highlands and what a visit it was. The Lodge is beautiful; first impressions were amazement at how much more spacious the place is than plodda photos depict on here. The Lodge is tastefully decorated, very comfortable and you have everything in terms of kitchen plodda facilities that you could possibly need for your stay. Jenny provides a warm welcome and is such a great host thanks again for the cake. The scenery is obviously amazing and this place is truly in the wilderness, it provided a real get-away-from-it-all week for us party of three and two dogs. The grounds of the Lodge are great with three completely fenced in areas which is perfect for the dogs. Plodda our four legged friends are generally very good, one has youth on her side and to have that added security was really helpful for us to relax knowing she plodda secure when being let out at night. We unfortunately did plodda a bad experience with the younger dog when we were there whereby we lost her for five hours about four miles from the Lodge blaming her youth and sheer plodda at being completely in the wild up there. There is a real nice atmosphere in the area, very much a community and we would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anybody who wants that true wilderness experience but still likes the luxury of a cosy large. We had a fantastic week in February 2017. We avoided the warmer months as we have previous experience of the Scottish midges which seem to love us far more than we love them, but we also wanted to capture crisp, clear winter scenery. We had wondered whether we might be met with snowy winter scenes, but the weather did not oblige. Plodda, the hard, biting frost, the morning mists and the many picturesque icicles more than compensated and there was a covering of snow on the top of the hills. In fact, having Bertie the cocker spaniel, it was a blessing that the weather was cold and frosty, the ground hard and no mud. It made it so much easier to keep the wilderness outside and the cottage its impeccable best We had often passed by travelling further north but had never explored Glens Affric, Urquhart and Cannich. It was a truly unique location with lots to explore and photograph, particularly the plentiful deer in Glen Cannich and the early morning visitors to the bird-table. Plodda Falls was amazing, and just a stroll away. The cottage was extremely well-equipped, comfortable and tastefully furnished. There was plentiful literature on the Estate and local history, and had the plodda been foul we could quite happily have entertained ourselves in front of the very relaxing wood burner. Relaxing by the fire after a day in the Glens was wonderfully soporific. Given the outside temperatures it was not surprising that we got through quite a bit of wood, but as we are townies, unaccustomed to the rural rigors of wilderness Scotland, that's not plodda. Our only disappointment was that the biomass heating wasn't operational plodda this would have reached the parts the electric panel heaters didn't. There are so many positives: the magnificently plodda beds, the care and attention to detail that has gone into renovation and refurbishment, Jenny's warm welcome and wealth of local knowledge and information, not to mention the lemon drizzle cake, fantastic location, stunning scenery and a beautiful cottage. I cannot recommend Plodda Falls Lodge highly enough. My husband and I had a wonderful stay in October 2016. The plodda exceeded our expectations, which had been extremely high. It was a characterful house, extremely cosy and comfortable, set in beautiful surroundings. The double bed was divine and the wood burning stove extremely efficient. Jenny was helpful and friendly, she made us feel very welcome, told us to contact her if there was anything or any information we needed and popped to see us twice to make sure we were okay unfortunately we missed her on both occasions. Plodda had made a delicious apple and blackberry cake for our arrival. There plodda wealth of information on what to do in the surrounding areas at the lodge, plus old photos and historical information about the lodge and estate. WiFi was excellent but there was no mobile signal, there was a landline for local calls. The lodge is located down a long drive which needs to be taken carefully and is remote as advised in the pre-booking information. This suited us as it was just what we were looking for but prospective hirers do need to be aware of this. Plodda Falls are a short walk through the forest which backs onto the lodge and are well worth seeing. We also explored nearby Glen Affric, which must be one of the most beautiful places in Scotland, and Loch Ness and its surrounding areas. There was a wealth of local walks detailed in the information at the lodge. All in all we had one of our best holidays at Plodda Plodda Lodge and can see why people go back there time and time again. We've stayed in many cottages in Scotland and we reckon this is perhaps the best we've stayed at. This was our home for two weeks and from the moment you drop your bags and shut the door you're immersed plodda the atmosphere and history of this beautiful house. Immaculately furnished, plodda yet cosy and filled with a sense of calm and tranquillity that could only arise from owners who love plodda place. And Jenny makes it all seem effortless, the house is maintained to the highest standards totally in keeping with the history and tradition of the old laundry house. It's a brilliant place to explore Glen Affric and beyond. You can walk, or cycle, or go for a run on silent, fragrant forest paths that plodda you on past eerie, broken mansions and waterfalls, watch the clouds plodda envelope the massive fir trees, count the bats flitting silently around the house on moonlit nights, take midnight walks up the many forest trails looking for nocturnal wildlife, or swim in crystal clear lochs. Thanks to the lovely Jenny for cakes, veg and local information. We had a wonderful stay at Plodda Falls Lodge which is beautiful, very comfortable, clean, spacious and well equipped. The surrounding area is amazing and we enjoyed taking advantage of the many local walks in an unspoilt area of natural beauty. We were visited during the day by Chaffinches, Blue Plodda, Robins and Siskins, a constant presence at the bird table. Plodda night our son was overjoyed to see, for the first time, badgers and a fox. Jenny provided us with a warm welcome including cake and was very helpful in providing information about the local area. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are returning next year. We thoroughly enjoyed our Honeymoon at Plodda Falls Lodge. The cottage is delightful with everything you could possible need, including the very romantic wood stove in the lounge. We loved watching the birds from the kitchen window, and enjoyed the walks to Plodda Falls and the 'secret' Guisachan Falls. Plodda Falls Lodge is a lovely quiet place to stay, and we found it wasn't difficult to get around from here to visit the local attractions. The road is a little nightmarish, but is easily managed if you take it slowly. The food available at the Grouse and Claret Restaurant Tomich Hotel is divine and we would recommend plodda anyone. Jenny plodda really lovely and ensured we were happy with everything during our stay, including the wonderful lemon drizzle cake she make for our arrival. Plodda Falls Plodda is set in a lovely location lots of birds and wildlife ,the cottage has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The owner Jenny is lovely and nothing is a bother. My wife and I certainly enjoyed our stay and we will return again. Thanks again Jenny for an enjoyable stay. An exceptionally well appointed and well maintained lodge: you will need for nothing here. The lodge was delightfully furnished and comfortable and Jenny, the owner, was careful to ensure we had everything we wanted. Best of all, however, is the setting. We swam in pools and under waterfalls most days, and were able to walk plodda the high hills of Glen Affric, arguably, Scotland's most beautiful glen. We had a lovely week in a beautiful, peaceful location. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It is extremely dog friendly with our dog, Harris, needing a rest when we got home from all the terrific walks we plodda right from the doorstep, Harris loved snoozing in front of the log burner in the afternoon after a long morning walk and so did we. The garden is great for dogs and would be fantastic for children too. There were lots of things to do in the local area and slightly further afield especially if you like wildlife and the outdoors. Jenny was a great hostess, ensuring we were settled in well and was very generous with her local knowledge of the estate which enhanced our stay. We will be recommending the cottage to our friends and family and will be back in the future. What can we say about Plodda Falls Lodge. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the cake Jenny made for us and our plodda loved watching the birds on the birdtable. The rooms are immaculate and the main bedroom bed was fantastic, the carving on it is 1st class. Loved it so much we've booked for next year. It has everything you need and the location is remote which suited us. The log burner is a treat on chilly plodda and the bed is so comfortable you will never want to leave. The owner Jenny's own house is about a mile down the road - close if you need help with something but never obtrusive. Booked again to visit in October. A little piece of Heaven on Earth. From the moment of our arrival, to be greeted by a lovely, homebaked, Lemon drizzle cake, we knew this stay would be special. The Plodda is so comfortable, the log burner is superb, and the beds are bliss. Best of all is Jenny, the owner, what a wonderful warm person. Jenny obviously adores this place, and this fills the house with such a lovely warm energy. We are booked to return plodda the spring and are so looking forward to our next visit. Plodda Falls, Inverness (4K)
The wildlife has been amazing, almost as good Jenny's cranberry flapjacks! The children really enjoyed swimming in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall. What can we say about Plodda Falls Lodge. Relaxing by the fire after a day in the Glens was wonderfully soporific. The garden is beautiful with numerous bird feeders and a lot of greedy birds to watch from the bay windows. Plodda Falls was amazing, and just a stroll away.
